- By 1896, China showed interest in Aksai Chin, reportedly a result of Russian instigation.[1]
- February â Russo-Chinese Bank, opened a Shanghai branch.[2]
- August 28 â The Chiniese government partnered with the Russo-Chinese Bank to construct the China Eastern Railway. The bank was renamed Sino-Russian Righteousness Victory Bank (Traditional Chinese: è¯ä¿éåéè¡).[3][4]
