The 1898 San Jose Normal football team represented California State Normal Schoolânow known as San Jose State Universityâas an independent during the 1898 college football season. In its first and only year under head coach Thad McKay, San Jose Normal compiled the program's first undefeated record at 5â0â1. Many other milestones characterized the 1898 season, including the program's first shutout, and intercollegiate win, and their first season in which they participated in multiple games.
