The 1986 Virginia Slims of New England (January), also known as the New England Classic, was a women's tennis tournament played on indoor carpet courts in Worcester, Massachusetts in the United States and was part of the 1985 Virginia Slims World Championship Series. It was the inaugural edition of the tournament and was held from January 13 through January 19, 1986. First-seeded Martina Navratilova won the singles title.[1]
