The 1997 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships were held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. Organized by USA Track and Field (USATF), the two-day competition took place February 28–March 1 and served as the national championships in indoor track and field for the United States.[1] The championships in combined track and field events were held at a different date.[2][3][4]

The competition was a qualifier for the U.S. team at the 1997 World Indoor Championships in Athletics. At the meeting, Mark Everett won the men's 800 m despite a plan from his rivals to work together against him.[5]
