The 2012 University of North Dakota football team represented the University of North Dakota in the 2012 NCAA Division I FCS football season. This season North Dakota officially played without a mascot name after the decision to retire "Fighting Sioux" as the school's mascot amid controversy.^[1]

They finished the season 5–6, 3–5 in Big Sky play to finish in a three-way tie for eighth place.
