February 13 – Microsoft introduces its Turing Natural Language Generation (T-NLG), which has 17 billion parameters.^[1]

June

June 11 – OpenAI introduces GPT-3.^[2]

September

September 22 – OpenAI licenses GPT-3 to Microsoft.^[3]

November

November 30 – DeepMind's artificial intelligence AlphaFold 2 reaches levels of accuracy much higher than any other entry in the 14th Critical Assessment of Structure Prediction (CASP).^[4]^[5]
