Watford joined the FA Cup at the third round stage, and were drawn away against Fulham.[96][97]

On 27 June, the draw for the first round was made, with Watford being drawn at home against Milton Keynes Dons.[98] In the second round, they were drawn at home to Plymouth Argyle.[99] On 28 August, Watford drew against the prior season's Premier League champions Manchester City in an away clash at the Etihad Stadium.[100][101]
