The 2026–27 Premier League is the 35th season of the Premier League and the 128th season of top-flight English football overall. The season began on 21 August 2026 and is scheduled to conclude on 30 May 2027. The full list of fixtures was released at 10:00 BST on 19 June 2026.

The 2026–27 season consists of 33 weekend and five midweek rounds of matches.[1] The summer transfer window opened on 15 June 2026 and closed at 23:00 BST on 1 September 2026. The winter transfer window will open on 1 January 2027 and close at 23:00 GMT on 1 February 2027.[2]

Developments
This season saw the usual opening fixtures and final matchweek postponed by one week due to the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place during the off-season. The fixtures were published at 10:00 BST on 19 June 2026.[1][4]
The previous calendar of five international breaks during the season will be reduced to four, with a three week international break between late September and early October occurring for the first time.[5]
The Premier League implemented a ban on gambling sponsors appearing on the front of match day shirts from the 2026–27 season.[6] This initiative aims to reduce the visibility of betting brands, following pressure regarding gambling normalisation, though betting companies can still sponsor sleeves, training kits, LED signs, and other club partnerships.[7]
Teams
Twenty teams will compete in the league – the top seventeen teams from the previous season and the three teams promoted from the Championship. The promoted teams are Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City, returning to the top flight after absences of twenty-five, one and nine years respectively.[8][9][10] They replaced West Ham United, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers, who were relegated to the Championship after fourteen, one and eight years in the top flight respectively.[11][12][13]

Notes:
- The winners of the 2026–27 FA Cup and the 5th-placed team both qualify for the Europa League. If the FA Cup winners finish in the top five, the 6th-placed team will qualify. If England are one of the two associations with the highest UEFA coefficient points, 5th place will qualify for the Champions League and the other qualifying spots will move down one position.
