Background
At the 2021 election, the Conservatives won a majority of seats.[5] The 2026 election will be held under new ward boundaries.[6] The government announced plans to further delay the election to 2027, but reversed the decision following a legal challenge by Reform UK.[7]
Campaign
According to a BBC report citing Conservative sources, the party's own internal polling show them facing the loss of dozens of seats on the county council in May.[8]

Results
Reform won the most seats at 40, doing particullarly well in South Norfolk, a former Tory stronghold.[9] However, this left them just 3 seats shy of a majority in the county council mostly due to the efforts of Restore Britain and the Liberal Democrats. In North Norfolk there where 10 competitive council seats up for election, with the Liberal Democrats winning 7 of them while Restore Britain won all 9 seats in the Great Yarmouth region.[10][11]
