The 2026 World Athletics Road Running Championships will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 19 and 20 September 2026.[1] As the second edition of the World Athletics Road Running Championships, they include the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships.

The championships consist of races for the half marathon, 5K, and mile distances, and also included mass-participation events for the same. This echoes the Gran Fondo tradition in cycling, and mass start events in triathlon.
The event was awarded to Copenhagen in August 2023.[2] In March 2026, due to a mistake in the American qualifiers for the event where some leading runners were led off-course, World Athletics granted the United States three extra non-scoring running slots in the women's half marathon.[3]
It featured Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen in 5 kilometres. He ran the race one week after his 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championships 5000 m win.[4][5]
World leads were set by the winners of the men's and women's road miles.[6] In the 5 kilometres run, Ingebrigtsen was out-kicked by Dawit Seare of Eritrea.[7]
