The 2026–27 Indian Super League will be the 13th season of the Indian Super League (ISL) and the 31st season of top-tier Indian football. The season is set to commence in early September 2026.

East Bengal are the defending champions, having won their maiden Super League title and the fourth overall top-tier league title.
Background
Developments
- On 23 May 2026, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) set 15 June 2026 as the deadline for clubs to confirm participation for the 2026-27 season with a ₹1 crore (US$100,000) fee. Following this, AIFF laid out its plans to start the 2026–27 season with Durand Cup in July and a 14-team double round-robin Super League by early September. The Super League clubs also presented a proposal of their own to the AIFF with a promise to generate around ₹60 crore (US$6.3 million) needed per season to operate the league and cup competition. The clubs would also match most of the commitments made by Genius Sports, a commerical partner which had promised ₹67 crore (US$7.0 million) annually for the next 15+5 years.[1][2]
Changes from last season
- After losing AFC Champions League Two slots owing to India's drop to 15th position in the West Zone of AFC rankings, this is the first season to feature the champion or the best eligible club earning a slot for the AFC Challenge League preliminary round, the Asian third-tier continental competition.[3]

- The club is based in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, but will play its home games in Kishore Bharati Krirangan at Kolkata due to ongoing construction on their own stadium getting built in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.[6]
