Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro was the jury president for the main competition.[1][2] Italian actor Michele Riondino hosted the opening and closing nights of the festival.[3] The Golden Lion was awarded to Roma by Alfonso Cuarón.[4]

The festival poster was made by Italian artist Lorenzo Mattotti, who designed it in the way "that attracts the eye, that attracts thought, but without revealing too much."[5]

The festival opened with First Man by Damien Chazelle,[6] and closed with Driven by Nick Hamm.
