Abdallah al-Alayli

Abdallah al-Alayli (Arabic: عبد الله العلايلي) (1996-1914) was a Lebanese intellectual and writer. His specializations included the Arabic language, Arab history and politics, and Islamic law. His works sparked controversy among Arab audiences, even leading to the banning of some of his books in certain places.[1][2][3][4] He was also a theoretician of Arab nationalism.

Al-Alayli was born on November 20, 1914, in Beirut, Lebanon.[5] He completed his higher learning at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.[5] He held a number of different advanced professional positions during his career within various religious organizations and international scholarly bodies. He was also a member of the Federation of Arabic Language Associations (اتحاد مجامع اللغة العربية).[5]

He died on December 4, 1996.[5]
