History

The club was founded in 1970 and has spent much of its history in the Saudi Second Division League and the Saudi Third Division. In 2024, the club was promoted[3] to the Saudi Pro League for the first time in its history, competing in the 2024–25 season.

On 24 July 2025, the club was sold to businessman Ben Harburg.

On 18 September 2025, Al-Kholood won their first home match under the new ownership of Ben Harburg, defeating Damac 2–1.[4]

Ownership

Like many Saudi football clubs, Al-Kholood was initially owned by the Ministry of Sport. It was later privatized and sold to The Harburg Group, owned by American businessman Ben Harburg.[citation needed] The sale was officially announced on 24 July 2025, making Al-Kholood the first Saudi football club to be 100% foreign-owned.[5]
