Al-Qayyūm in Arabic

Al-Qayyūm (Arabic: الْقَيُّوم) is one of the names of God in Islam. The meaning has been variously translated as "The Self-Subsisting," "The Self-Existing," or "The Self-Sustaining," as mentioned in the Quran, and the Hadiths of the Prophet Mohammed.

The word Al-Qayyūm (القیوم) derives from the root qaf-waw-mim (ق – و – م), which has the following classical Arabic connotations: to get up, to stand up, to stand erect, to rise.[1]

Occurrence in Quran

In the Quran, the word Al-Qayyūm is mentioned three times, each time paired second to the name "Al-Ḥayy" (The Ever-Living) in three verses from different surahs. One occurrence is in the Throne Verse (Ayat al-Kursi) of Surat al-Baqarah, another is in the second verse introducing Surat Al-Imran, being similar to Ayat al-Kursi, and the third is in Surat Taha.[2][3][4]
