Alexander Grigorievich Smirnov (Russian: Александр Григорьевич Смирнов; born August 31, 1917, village Krugly Bor, Cherepovetsky District, Vologda Governorate — 1970s, Omsk, USSR) — Soviet leader of the internal affairs bodies, Major General of Police. Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Omsk Regional Executive Committee (1964–1970),[1] Head of the ITLK of the UMJ of the Omsk Oblast (1955–1957). Honored Worker of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR.[2]
- 1917: Born into a peasant family of middle-income farmers in the village of Krugly Bor, Cherepovetsky District, Vologda Governorate, RSFSR.
- 1932: Graduated from a seven-year school in Cherepovets, entered the Rybinsk River School (Shcherbakov), where at that time the future head of the KGB and General Secretary of the CPSU Yuri Andropov was studying.
- 1934–1938: Worked on ships of the Upper Volga Shipping Company: from trainee to senior assistant mechanic.
- 1939–1941: Began his career in the NKVD at the construction of the Arkhangelsk Paper Mill:
— machinist and shift mechanic (1939–1941);
— senior instructor of the political department (1941).
- December 1941: Transferred to the operational department of the NKVD administration of the mill as an operational officer.
- 1942–1951: Service in the Tagillag system of the NKVD/MVD (Nizhny Tagil):
— operational officer (1942);
— head of department → Deputy Head of Department → Deputy Head of Administration (until 1951);
— supervised the construction of workshops of the Uralvagonzavod and residential areas for workers.
- 1953: Graduated from the Officer School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
- 1951–1955: Work in Kamyshlag (Kemerovo Oblast):
— head of the regime department (1951–1953);
— deputy Head of Administration (1953–1954);
— head of Administration (1954–1955).
- 1955–1957: Head of the Administration of ITLK of the Ministry of Justice of the USSR in Omsk.
- 1957–1964: Deputy Head of the Omsk Regional Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for personnel.
- 1963: Graduated with honors from the Higher School of the Ministry of Public Order Protection of the RSFSR.
- 1964–1970: Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Omsk Regional Executive Committee:[1]
— construction of 17 state farms and grain storage facilities on virgin lands;
— organization of the production of spare parts for agricultural machinery;
— introduction of innovative methods of operational-search activity.
- 1970 - : Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Orenburg Regional Executive Committee and from there seconded to the MVD of the USSR.
- The exact date of death and burial place have not been established – according to contemporaries, he died in the late 1970s.[2]
