Amit Rohidas
Indian field hockey player

Amit Rohidas (born 10 May 1993) is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a defender.[2] He also served as the vice-captain of the Indian national team. He was an important part of the Indian squad that won bronze medals at the 2020 and 2024 Olympics and gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games.[3]

Early life
Rohidas was born on 10 May 1993 in Saunamara village of Sundergarh district.[citation needed] He started playing hockey in his village and joined the Panposh Sports Hostel in Rourkela in 2004.[citation needed]
Career
He was selected in the national junior team in 2009.[4] Rohidas was selected in the senior squad for the 2013 Asia Cup in Ipoh where the Indian team won the silver medal. He made a comeback to the Indian side in 2017. Rohidas is the tenth international and sixth men's hockey player to play in the Olympics from Odisha and also the first non-tribal hockey Olympian from Odisha.[5][6]
Rohidas is on the men's hockey team for India for the Paris 2024 Olympics. During the quarter-finals match against Great Britain, he received a red card for swinging his hockey stick into Will Calnan's face.[7] Hockey India lodged an appeal on the grounds that Rohidas did not intend to hit Calnan with his stick.[8]
