Anna Benjamin David (born 1970) is an American publisher, author, speaker, podcast host, and television personality.[2]

Early life
David was born to Jewish parents.[3] She is a graduate of Trinity College.[4]
Career
Book and magazine author
David is the author of the novels Party Girl (HarperCollins, 2007),[5] Bought (HarperCollins, 2009),[6] and the non-fiction books Falling For Me (HarperCollins, 2011),[7] Reality Matters (HarperCollins, 2010),[8] True Tales of Lust and Love, How to Get Successful by F*cking Up Your Life and Make Your Mess Your Memoir. Her book By Some Miracle I Made It Out of There, co-written with Tom Sizemore, was a New York Times bestseller.[9]
Her novel Party Girl explores alcoholism and recovery and portrays the downward spiral of a celebrity journalist’s substance misuse and subsequent journey to sobriety, and has been discussed in the context of addiction literature and recovery narratives, appearing on curated lists of significant books about addiction and recovery and being cited as an influential work within the “quit lit” genre.[10][11]
In 2021, she got the rights to Party Girl back from HarperCollins[12] and relaunched the book under her own publishing imprint.[13] Party Girl is in development as a movie with the producer of Martin Scorsese's The Irishman.[14] In late 2024, David released a revised "PG Version" of Party Girl with much of its explicit content removed, prompting the Wall Street Journal to describe her as, "part of an era of tell-all writers now worried about their children reading their books."[15]
David has been a contributor to The Daily Beast,[16] Details,[17] Maxim, Premiere, Parenting, People, Us Weekly, Time,[18] MindBodyGreen, MarieClaire, BuzzFeed, and Razor.[13]
David's work has appeared in The New York Times,[12] The LA Times,[19] Details,[20] Cosmopolitan, Time, Vice, BuzzFeed, Psychology Today, HuffPost, New York Post, The Huffington Post,[21] Playboy,[22] Redbook, Self, Stuff, TV Guide, Movieline, Women's Health, Esquire UK, Teen Vogue, Variety, Tatler, Emmy, and Salon.[23] In 2017, David launched Legacy Launch Pad Publishing, a company that publishes books for entrepreneurs and thought leaders.[2] Legacy Launch Pad has released numerous books that have become Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestsellers.[24]
Television personality
David was one of the main hosts on G4’s Attack of the Show[25] for four years and has been featured on Good Morning America, The Talk, Hannity, Red Eye,[26] Dr. Drew,[27] Jane Velez Mitchell[28] and The Insider[29] as well as on various other programs on Fox News, CTV, MTV News, VH1 and E!.
In 2010, David started speaking at colleges about addiction and recovery.[30] That year, she began delivering the keynote speech “Surviving and Thriving in an Addictive Society” at colleges across the country.[31] In 2017, she gave her 10-minute talk, “How to Wear Your Labels” alongside Tony Robbins at the Genius Network Annual event.[32] In 2018, she spoke at TEDxOhlone, TEDxLosGatos and TedXUniversityofSanDiego.[33]
She speaks at organizations, events and corporations on sharing people story to build their business and legacy.[34]
David hosts a podcast on publishing, which has been named one of the best publishing podcasts by LA Weekly[35] and Feedspot,[36] among many others.[37] The podcast has featured interviews with Chris Voss,[38] Adam Carolla[39] and Jay Abraham[40] David is the book critic for KATU Portland's morning show[41] and writes about literature for Los Angeles Magazine.[42]
In 2025, she joined the advisory board of The Evolution of Publishing Institute,[43] an organization that conducts research on how books create business value, drive thought leadership and generate measurable returns for entrepreneurs and executives.
Personal life
In 2023, David and her partner James Agnew welcomed a baby via surrogate, a topic she writes about for Los Angeles Magazine.[44][45]
