Anna Karenina is a 1977 BBC television adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's 1877 novel of the same name.[1]
It stars Nicola Pagett as Anna,[2][3] Eric Porter as Karenin,[3] Stuart Wilson as Vronsky,[3] Davyd Harries as Stiva,[4] Robert Swann as Levin,[4] and Caroline Langrishe as Kitty.[4]
It consisted of ten 50-minute episodes,[3] and so was able to include more of the original plot than some adaptations.[1] It was mostly favourably received by critics.[5]
The series was nominated for three BAFTA TV Awards, for Best Lighting, Best Costume Design, and Best Make Up; and for one Primetime Emmy Award, for Outstanding Art Direction for a Drama Series.[6]
