Anthro New England (ANE) is a furry convention that is held annually in the Greater Boston area of the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It was first held in 2015 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but moved into Boston in 2018 at the Boston Park Plaza. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 event was held online.[1] Since 2020, Anthro New England has become one of the top ten furry conventions in the world.[2] Anthro New England moved to a larger venue, the Westin Boston Seaport District hotel in 2023. The latest event in 2026 reached a new attendance record of 7,284 attendees.[‡ 1]
In April 2026, Anthro New England announced it had reached an agreement with the Omni Boston at the Seaport hotel to expand the main venue space to use both the event space of the Omni as well as the existing space at the Westin for the upcoming 2027 convention[3].
Anthro New England was organized in 2014 with the goal of hosting a furry convention in Greater Boston.[4] Their first event was held from February 27 to March 1, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge in Cambridge, Massachusetts. During the first convention, 165 people took part in the fursuit parade.
By 2018, Anthro New England had become one of the largest annual furry conventions in the United States,[4] with the 2019 event attracting over 2,000 attendees.[5] From 2022 to 2026, Anthro New England's attendance has increased by over one thousand each year, remaining in the top ten largest furry conventions in the world.[2]
