Arua Arunsi

Arua Arunsi is a Nigerian politician who served as a member of the House of Representatives, representing the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency of Abia State.[1][2][3][4][5]


Early life and education

Arua Arunsi was born on 10 October 1964 in Nkporo, Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria.

He attended Ndi-Agbo Community Primary School, Nkporo, where he completed his primary education in 1978. He subsequently attended Boys Secondary School, Asaga, Ohafia, before completing his secondary education at Nkporo Secondary School, Nkporo, in 1985.[6]


Political career

Arua Arunsi began his political career in the defunct United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP), where he served as State Treasurer and later as State Vice Chairman in Abia State. Following Nigeria's return to democratic rule in 1999, he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), serving as the party's Legal Adviser and later as Assistant Secretary in Abia State.

He was elected to the Abia State House of Assembly, where he served as Speaker, becoming the first Speaker from Abia North Senatorial District.

In 2011, Arunsi was elected to represent Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, where he served one term.

In 2018, he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).[7][8][9]
