Atrotus is a genus of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. It is placed in the licinine tribe Licinini and subtribe Lestignathina and occurs mainly in eastern and central Africa, with some species recorded from the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent.[1][2][3] There are about 18 described species in Atrotus.[1][2]

The genus Zargochilus Alluaud, 1908 is treated in recent catalogues and nomenclatural databases as a junior synonym of Atrotus.[4][5]
