The 14th Central American and Caribbean Games were held in Havana, Cuba from August 7 to August 18, 1982,[2] and included 2,420 athletes from nineteen nations competing in 25 different sports. Some events were held in Santiago de Cuba, Cienfuegos, and the eastern end of the island.[3]

The Games were originally awarded to Mayagüez, Puerto Rico get the hosted in 2010, which withdrew from organising in 1981.[1] Havana stepped up to host the Games for the second time, the first being in 1930.

The torch was carried by María Caridad Colón.
Mascot
The mascot for the Games was Cuco, the Crocodile.[1]
