Basnet

Basnet/Basnyat (Nepali: बस्‍नेत/बस्न्यात) is a surname of Khasas of Nepal and India.^[1] It is commonly found among Jharra Chhetri.^[2]

There are five different branches of Basnets in Nepal:

• The Shreepali (Sripali) Jumli Basnets of Jumla bharadwaja later Gorkha.
• The Khulal Basnets of Dhananjaya Gotriya
• The Khaptari (Khaptadi Basnyat)King of Khaptad Raghuvanshi Kshatriya Kaushik gotriya
• The Khaptadi Basnets with Kaushalaya gotra
• The Lamichhane; Garga gotriya Basnets
