Detective Robert "Bobby" Simone is a fictional character in the American television series NYPD Blue. Played by Jimmy Smits for four seasons, Simone is known for his sensitivity and street smarts,[1][2] as well as his friendship with his detective-partner Andy Sipowicz.[3]

He was introduced in the fifth episode of the second season remaining until the fifth episode of the sixth.

Simone was raised in Brooklyn,[2] where he attended Catholic school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. His ancestry and place of birth are ambiguous; see below.
