Bond s knopkoy (Russian: Бонд с кнопкой) is a Russian indie folk band formed in 2017 in the city of Neftekamsk, Republic of Bashkortostan. The founder, lead vocalist, songwriter and band leader is Ilya Zolotukhin. The group incorporates complex instrumental arrangements, including cello, piano, saxophone, and choral participation. Songs are performed in Russian. Distinctive features of their music are the use of folkloric elements and vivid everyday imagery.
The band was formed in 2017 in Neftekamsk. Later, its founder Ilya Zolotukhin moved to Moscow to study at the Moscow State Institute of Culture as a "literary worker and translator of fiction".[1] After the move, a new lineup of musicians was assembled. The band's name refers to a popular Internet meme of that period related to the Bond Street cigarette brand, well known among Russian youth.[2]
The first official album, Govorit (Speak), was released in 2020, the same year as Provintsialnaya opera bez syuzheta (A Provincial Opera Without a Plot), recorded in collaboration with other musicians.[2] The band's third album, Puteshestvie (Journey), was named by Russian magazine Snob as one of the musical breakthroughs of 2023.[3] Zolotukhin himself called it the band's most successful release.[2]
In 2024, the band released the mini-album Prazdnik (Holiday), which leaned more toward folk rock than their previous indie rock–inspired releases.[4] Its lyrics showed stronger religious and folkloric motifs. That same year the singles "Svoi" (Our Own) and "Kamushki" (Little Stones) were released.[5] In 2025 the band appeared on the television program Kvartirnik u Margulisa.[6]
In 2025 the track “Kukhni” (Kitchens) went viral on TikTok. Rapper Basta praised the song on his show "Rate My Track," emphasizing the quality of the band's live performances.[7] Soon after, the single topped music charts. That year Bond s knopkoy played major festivals such as Letnik and Dikaya Myata, and launched a nationwide Russian tour.[2][8]
Musical style
Music critic Dmitry Tyulin wrote in Nozh that the band's lyrics combine "domestic imagery, strained intonation, and a folkloric vibe." Zolotukhin's vocals are often accompanied by choral parts, while both recordings and live shows feature elaborate arrangements with piano, cello, and saxophone.[9] Snob magazine highlighted Zolotukhin's “hoarse, brutal and charismatic” voice as central to the band's identity.[3] The group performs both stadium shows and intimate acoustic concerts.[10] Experimental recording techniques are also used—for example, the song "Kamushki" was recorded live on a single microphone, while the album version of "Kukhni" used a concert drum track played without a metronome.[11]
Awards and chart performance
In 2024, the band was nominated for the Chartova Duzhina awards,[12] and in 2025 won the prize in the "Breakthrough" category.[13] In June–July 2025, the song "Kukhni" topped the charts of Yandex Music, VKontakte, Apple Music, and Shazam for several weeks.[14]
