Bobsledder André Luiz da Silva and alpine skier Alice Padilha were the country's flagbearers during the opening ceremony.^[5]

Zion Bethônico became the first athlete from Brazil to win a Winter Youth Olympics (or Winter Olympics) medal. On 20 January, Bethônico won the bronze medal in the men's snowboard cross event.^[6]
