The British Virgin Islands team was expected to consist of about 12 athletes.[4] The King's Baton relay stopped in the British Virgin Islands in May 2025.[5][6][7]

In July 2026, the final team of 11 athletes (five men and six women), all competing in track and field was officially named.[8][9] Sprinter Adaejah Hodge was the country's flagbearer during the opening ceremony.[9][10] Meanwhile, fellow sprinter Jaleel Croal was the baton bearer during the opening ceremony.[9]

For the third consecutive games, the British Virgin Islands won a single gold medal.[11] This also marked the first time a woman had won a medal for the territory.[11]
