Butte Valley is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) named for a former settlement in Butte County, California, United States. It is located within the county seat of Oroville and uses Oroville addresses in addition to being 5.5 miles (8.9 km) southeast of Chico.[4] A post office operated at Butte Valley from 1861 to 1871, when it was re-located to Durham.[4] Butte Valley sits at an elevation of 351 feet (107 m).
