Emik was born in Güney village in the Acıpayam district of Denizli Province. He took up wrestling in 1992, and his first coach was Mustafa Ali Ünlüsoy.[6][7] At age-group level, he won the cadet world title in 1994 in the 51 kg class. He also won bronze at the 1995 European Junior Championships and the 1996 World Junior Championships, gold at the 1997 European Junior Championships, and silver medals at the 1997 and 1998 World Junior Championships and the 1998 European Junior Championships.[1]
At senior level, Emik placed fifth in the 63 kg category at the 2000 European Wrestling Championships. In the same year, he won the gold medal at the 2000 World University Wrestling Championships in Tokyo. He followed this with another major title at the 2001 Mediterranean Games in Tunis, where he won the men's Greco-Roman 63 kg event, and claimed a second world university title at the 2002 World University Wrestling Championships in Edmonton in the 66 kg class.[1][8][9]
He also represented Turkey at several editions of the Wrestling World Cup, helping the national Greco-Roman team to silver medals in 2002 and 2003, a bronze medal in 2006, and fourth place in 2007.[1] Individually, he competed at the senior world championships in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007. His best result came at the 2006 World Wrestling Championships in Guangzhou, where he won the bronze medal in the 60 kg division. In the same year, he also won bronze at the Military World Championships.[1]
During his career, Emik competed for several clubs, including TEDAŞ, ASKİ, Gebzespor, Konya Şekerspor and İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor.[6][7] After retiring from active competition in 2007, he worked as a coach and physical education teacher. In 2022, he was reappointed as a coach of the Turkey Greco-Roman national team.[6][7][10]
