History
On 28 January 2022, AirAsia Group Berhad announced that they would change their legal name to Capital A Berhad citing its diversified nature.[5][6]
Merger of AirAsia with AirAsia X
On 26 April 2024, Capital A entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement with AirAsia X Berhad to sell 100% of AirAsia Berhad (AAB) and AirAsia Aviation Group Ltd. (AAAGL), which owns AirAsia Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand, for RM 6.8b as part of its restructuring strategy.[7][8] On 14 and 16 October 2024, Capital A and AirAsia X shareholders respectively approved the acquisition of Capital A's AAB and AAAGL to AirAsia X Berhad via a extraordinary general meeting.[9][10] By 29 October 2025, all condition for its aviation restructuring was met or waived, paving the way for the acquisition to proceed.[11] On 18 January 2026, the acquisition of AAB and AAAGL by AirAsia X was completed via the allotment and issuance of new ordinary shares to Capital A.[12][13][14]

Capital A is primarily engaged in aviation-related industries such as flight catering, aircraft maintenance and logistics through Santan, Asia Digital Engineering and Teleport.[15][16] The company also engages in the online travel agency and finance sector through AirAsia MOVE and BigPay.[17][18]

Santan
The inflight catering arm of Capital A, Santan, was launched on 18 August 2015.[16][19] It replaced AirAsia Café as the inflight caterer for AirAsia and AirAsia X flights.[16]
Asia Digital Engineering
Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) was established on 9 September 2020 as the aviation engineering arm of the firm.[20][21] ADE is engaged in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft with facilities in Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Senai International Airport.[22][23][24]
Teleport
In March 2018, RedCargo Logistics was incorporated as the exclusive provider of AirAsia and AirAsia X aircraft cargo capacity.[25][26] RedCargo Logistics later rebranded to Teleport in 2019.[27][28][29]
