Carley Fortune

Carley Fortune (born February 7, 1984) is a Canadian writer from Toronto, Ontario, most noted for her 2022 and 2023 novels Every Summer After and Meet Me at the Lake.[1]

A journalist who has been a contributor and editor for Refinery29, The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine and Toronto Life, she published her debut novel Every Summer After in 2022.[2] Meet Me at the Lake followed in 2023;[3] the book made the bestseller lists in both Canada and the United States, and attracted widespread press when it was optioned by Archewell, the production firm of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, for development as a film.[4]

Meet Me at the Lake was selected for the 2024 edition of Canada Reads, where it was defended by Mirian Njoh.[5] In the fall of 2024, her follow-up novel This Summer will be Different, set in PEI as a romance summer read,[6] is leading the Canadian fiction bestseller list.[7] In 2025, she published One Golden Summer.[8] In 2026, she published Our Perfect Storm.

In 2024, Amazon Prime Video announced an adapation of Fortune's Every Summer After.[9] The series, Every Year After, is scheduled to premiere on June 10, 2026.[10]
