Carley Fortune

Carley Fortune (born February 7, 1984) is a Canadian writer from Toronto, Ontario, most noted for her 2022 and 2023 novels Every Summer After and Meet Me at the Lake.[1]

As a journalist, she has been a contributor and editor for Refinery29, The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, and Toronto Life. She published her debut novel Every Summer After in 2022.[2] Meet Me at the Lake followed in 2023;[3] the book made the bestseller lists in both Canada and the United States, and attracted widespread press when it was optioned by Archewell for development as a film.[4]
Meet Me at the Lake was selected for the 2024 edition of Canada Reads, where it was defended by Mirian Njoh.[5] In August 2024, her follow-up novel This Summer will be Different, a romance set in Prince Edward Island,[6] topped the Canadian fiction bestseller list.[7] In 2025, she published One Golden Summer.[8] In 2026, she published Our Perfect Storm.[9][10]
In 2024, Amazon Prime Video announced an adapation of Fortune's Every Summer After.[11] The series, Every Year After, is scheduled to premiere on June 10, 2026.[12]
