History
The Carlow County Library Service was founded in March 1929 by the Library Association of Ireland with financial assistance from the Carnegie United Kingdom Trust.[2][3] The Library Service was originally headquartered in the Central Library on Dublin Street, County Carlow until the Carlow County Library Headquarters on Tullow Street were finished.[4]
In March 2026, Carlow mayor Paul Doogue announced plans for a "library-based dementia awareness initiative in 2026" after a meeting with Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland and the Carlow County Library Service.[5]
