Carmen Amato is an American mystery and thriller author and retired CIA intelligence officer.[1] She is best known for the Detective Emilia Cruz police procedural series set in Acapulco, as well as the standalone political thriller, The Hidden Light of Mexico City.[2][3] She has won a number of awards including the National Intelligence Award, the Career Intelligence Medal,[4] and an induction into the Rome Arts Hall of Fame.[2]
