Carter Ryan Smith (born August 8, 2005), known online as CarterPCs, is an American content creator known for his short-form videos about technology, which he posts on TikTok and YouTube. He has also drawn attention for his commentary on the technology industry, including on AI data centers, Trump Mobile, and Sony's PlayStation 5. As of August 2026, he has 7 million followers on TikTok and 3.31 million subscribers on YouTube.

Carter Ryan Smith was born on August 8, 2005.[‡ 1][‡ 2] He grew up in Michigan[1] and attended St. Mary Catholic Central High School in Monroe, Michigan.[‡ 3]
Career
Smith began posting to TikTok in 2020, at age 14, uploading four videos a day.[‡ 4][1] He creates short-form video content about technology on TikTok and YouTube, covering topics such as computers, cars, and artificial intelligence.[1] He frequently features Apple and Samsung products in his videos, which have been cited in coverage by Time and The Daily Dot.[2][3]
After gaining popularity, Smith moved to Los Angeles at age 18 to be closer to the technology industry.[1] A June 2026 Mashable profile described him as "chronically online in the best possible way".[1] In 2023, a YouTube channel impersonating Smith under the handle @carterpcs had more subscribers than his own channel, an incident Business Insider reported as an example of a broader problem with impersonation and content theft on social media.[4]

In March 2026, Smith began criticizing Trump Mobile over the information it provided to buyers of its T1 smartphone, including its shipping details, color, and camera quality.[5] He later accused the company of leaking his personal information and called it a scam.[‡ 5] In July 2026, Smith criticized Sony over its plan to remove disc functionality from the PlayStation 5, arguing that games could cost $100 once physical discs are phased out.[6] He has also posted multiple videos about AI data centers, on topics including their water consumption and the placement of mini data centers in residential yards.[‡ 6][‡ 7]
