Cecil Charles Brown Jr. (born June 22, 1944) is an American politician. He was a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives from the 66th District, from 1999 to 2015. He is a member of the Democratic Party.[1]
In the 1999 general election, Brown defeated three-term Republican incumbent Ken Stribling in what had been considered a fairly safe seat for the Republicans. During his second term, he was appointed to chair the House Education Committee.[2] He was elected to the Mississippi Public Service Commission in 2015 with 53% of the vote.[3] In 2019, he stated he wouldn't seek reelection.[4] In the 2019 general election, Republican Brent Bailey defeated Democratic candidate De'Keither Stamps to succeed Brown on the Commission.[5]
