Between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2023 she served as a deputy representing the Capital district.[1][2]
In 2020, Amarilla was suspended for 60 days from her parliamentary duties and salary, by a vote of the Chamber of Deputies of Paraguay, after she claimed that up to 70 deputies had bought their seats.[3]
In 2026, she was criticized for remarks made against the French forward Kylian Mbappé, after France defeated Paraguay in a round of 16 match, calling him a "colonized Cameroonian, who pretends to be French", and saying that "the most educated creatures he ever listened to were chimpanzees".[4][5] Mbappé publicly condemned Amarilla as "despicable" and said she did not represent Paraguay, while the French Football Federation announced that it would file a criminal complaint with the French Public Prosecutor's Office.[6][7]
