Chaetostoma taczanowskii[3] is a species of catfish in the family Loricariidae. It is native to South America, where it occurs in the basins of the Huallaga River and the Urubamba River in Peru. The species reaches 17 cm (6.7 inches) in total length.
Chaetostoma taczanowskii was first described by Franz Steindachner in 1882. It is named in honor of Władysław Taczanowski, a Polish zoologist. It is classified in the order Siluriformes (the catfishes) in the class Actinopterygii.[2] Its family, Loricariidae, is sometimes called the armoured catfishes.[4] The species has been referred to by the synonym Chaetostomus taczanowskii.[2] In Spanish, it is known by the common name "carachama".[1]
