Charles Klein (1898–1981) was a German film director, screenwriter and novelist.[1][2] He began his career in Hollywood during the silent era. In 1928 he produced The Telltale Heart, an expressionist short film version of the Edgar Allan Poe story.[3] He later moved to Germany, but the Second World War brought an end to his film career and he was called up to the Wehrmacht.
