Clement Chima Nwaforⓘ (10 June 1948 – 21 March 2006) was a Nigerian surgeon and politician who served twice as the deputy governor of Abia State from 1992 to 1993 and from 2003 until his death in 2006.[1][2][3][4]

Early life and education
Clement Chima Nwafor was born on 10 June 1946 in Umuojima, Osisioma Ngwa, present-day Abia State, Nigeria.
He received his primary and secondary education in Cameroon, attending St. Joseph's College, Sasse, and later Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha, where he completed his Higher School Certificate (HSC). He subsequently studied Medicine at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, graduating with the MB.BS degree and qualifying as a medical doctor.[5][6]
Career
Before entering politics, Chima Nwafor practised as a medical doctor and surgeon in Abia State. He worked at the General Hospital, Aba (now Abia State University Teaching Hospital) and later headed the General Hospitals at Okpuala Ngwa and Ukwa.
He also served on the governing councils of the University of Port Harcourt and the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. In addition, he was a director of Citizens Bank between 1995 and 2003 before returning to elective politics.[7]
Political career
Chima Nwafor entered politics during Nigeria's Third Republic and was elected Deputy Governor of the old Abia State on the platform of the National Republican Convention (NRC), serving alongside Governor Ogbonnaya Onu from January 1992 until the military takeover in November 1993.
Following Nigeria's return to democratic rule, he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In 2003, he was elected Deputy Governor of Abia State alongside Governor Orji Uzor Kalu and served until his death in office on 21 March 2006.[1][8][9][10]
