Christ Melik Makosso (born 9 May 2004) is a Congolese professional footballer who plays as a defender for EFL Championship club Oxford United on loan from EFL League One club Luton Town.
Early career
Born in Brazzaville, Makosso spent his early career in the Congo with Ajax Moungali and CARA Brazzaville.[1] He then played in France with Sochaux, before moving to Belgian club RWDM in January 2024.[2][3] He was praised in the media as the "future" of RWDM,[4] while Makosso said he would focus on his club career over his international career.[5]
Luton Town
Makosso moved to English club Luton Town in January 2025.[6][7] He made his debut for the club on 23 February 2025, in a 2–0 defeat to Watford.[8] Although the 2024–25 season ended in disappointment as the Hatters suffered a second consecutive relegation, Makosso's impact following his arrival saw him named both Young Player of the Season and Signing of the Season at the club's awards night.[9]
In January 2026 he moved on loan to Oxford United.[10][11]
