Christine J. Johnson was Treasurer for DeKalb County, Illinois, first elected to the office in 1994 and continuing until her resignation in December 2020.[1] She was the longest-serving treasurer in the county's history.[1] Johnson is also a former Republican member of the Illinois Senate, where she represented the 35th legislative district in Boone, DeKalb, Ogle, LaSalle and Winnebago counties from 2011 to 2013.[2] Johnson was elected to her 7th term as Treasurer in 2018.[3]
Johnson grew up on a farm and was educated in the DeKalb County area. She received a B.A. in Journalism and Public Relations from Northern Illinois University, which is now part of the district she represents.
Prior to serving as Treasurer, Johnson worked as the Shabbona Lake State Park Office Coordinator and assisted with her family farm operations in Shabbona.
