Chump and Co is a 1939 Australian radio serial for children by Max Afford. The serial played on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.[3] It was very popular and led to a sequel The Return of Chump and Co. Afford had achieved fame writing detective stories, particularly those featuring his hero Jeffrey Blackburn. This one was for children

Premise

Mr. Chumpney likes sweets and wants to be a detective. He investigates a crime with Betty and Bob Burton, and their scatter-brained mother.

The Return of Chump and Co

The Return of Chump and Co began in November 1939 and went until January 1940.[4][5] The subtitle of this was "The Case of the Deserted House".

ABC Weekly said "The Return of Chump and Co has been so popular with girls and boys throughout Australia, that I think we’ll have to ask Max Afford to write The Return of Chump and Co."[6]
