Ciarán Ahern

Ciarán Ahern (born September 1984) is an Irish Labour Party politician who has been a TD for the Dublin South-West constituency since the 2024 general election.[2][3]

Ahern was a member of South Dublin County Council from June to November 2024 for the RathfarnhamTempleogue area.[4][1] He has worked and lectured in law. He was an unsuccessful candidate at the 2020 general election for Dublin South-West.

Early life and education

Ahern grew up in Rathfarnham with his two brothers.[1] He attended Coláiste Éanna. He went on to graduate with a double Bachelor of Law and Business from University College Dublin in 2007 and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Policy, Human Rights, Criminology, and Corporate Crime from the London School of Economics Law School in 2009.

Personal life

Ahern married fellow lawyer Maeve O'Rourke in January 2020.[5][6] Ahern had to postpone their honeymoon in order to stand as a Labour candidate at the 2020 general election, which took place that February.[7] The couple have a son together.[1]
