Career

Born in Harrow, London, Moughton began his career with Queens Park Rangers, signing professional terms in December 1965.[2] He made six appearances for the club between 1965 and 1968[3] prior to joining Colchester United on a two-month trial in July 1968.[2]

Moughton made his debut for Colchester in a 4–0 defeat to Brentford at Griffin Park on 10 August 1968, the opening match of the season and a game in which he scored an unfortunate own goal.[4] He made four appearances in the league for the U's[5] but was not signed permanently, making his final appearance in another 4–0 defeat, on this occasion at home to Scunthorpe United.[6] He later joined Bedford Town,[1] Cheltenham Town[2] and Gloucester City.[7]
