Collage (Paul Revere and the Raiders album)

In an effort to update the band's sound and image, the name of the group was officially shortened to The Raiders on this and their subsequent albums Indian Reservation (1971) and Country Wine (1972).^[2] The album received a glowing review from Rolling Stone magazine critic Lenny Kaye, who singled out singer Mark Lindsay for praise: "[He] never fails to give the impression that he knows what he's doing. Almost single-handedly, he's brought the Raiders to a stronger position than they've occupied in years".^[3] Despite the review, Collage proved to be a commercial failure (#154 on the Billboard 200) and Lindsay began to turn toward solo projects.^[4]

Two singles were released from Collage: "Just Seventeen" and "Gone Movin' On", which was a re-recorded version of a track from the group's 1967 album Revolution!. A faster tempo earlier version of "We Gotta All Get Together", written by guitarist Freddy Weller, peaked at No. 6 in Canada and No. 25 in the United States when distributed as an A-side on August 12, 1969.^[5][6] Neither "Just Seventeen" or "Gone Movin' On" cracked the Top 40.
