Compassionate leadership

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Compassionate leadership is a term used to describe a leadership style used by employers to show compassion to employees.[1] Studies show that employees who experience compassion from leaders feel legitimized, valued, and more satisfied with their jobs.[2]

The idea of compassionate leadership came from the mindfulness teachings of Jon Kabat-Zinn. He taught that being a compassionate leader helped reduce work stress among employees, and that it was a learned management style.[3]
