Conus lugubris is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Conidae, the cone snails and their allies.[3]

Like all species within the genus Conus, these snails are predatory and venomous. They are capable of stinging humans, therefore live ones should be handled carefully or not at all.
Description
Distribution
This species occurred only on the north coast of the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde.[5] It was locally abundant in the Matiota Beach area and the last living specimen was seen in 1987, with tourism and coastal development leading to its extinction. [5]
