Danielle Nicole Herrington[5] (born May 26, 1993) is an American model known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, including the cover of the 2018 edition where she became the third African-American woman to appear on the cover — after Tyra Banks (1997) and Beyonce (2007).[6]
Herrington was raised in Compton, California, but rose to fame after becoming a resident of Brooklyn's Bushwick neighborhood.[7][8] Growing up, she attended Gahr High School in Cerritos, California, before dropping out her sophomore year to be homeschooled, so she can focus on her modeling career.[7] Herrington came from a working family.[9] She describes her childhood as normal and says she was focused on school until college.
