A day school can be for children or adults.
Day schools for children comprise instruction which they receive during the day[1], after which, in contrast to a boarding school, they return to their homes. Day schools for children have full-day programs in contrast to the programs of a regular school which end early and which require additional after-school programs for those who have working parents. Day schools also generally offer supervised lunches, which is required for children who have working parents, and are held in locations where the children are not expected to return home at noon to eat with their families.
Day schools for adults can be held formally, as a component of adult education[2], or informally[3], as a one-off event, for example to honour a notable person or to examine an historical event or phenomenon.
